Skin Tags are flesh coloured or brown growths, they hang from the surface of the skin,they vary in size and can range from a few millimetres to up to 5cm. They’re usually found on the armpits, neck, around the groin, eyelids or under the breasts. Whilst Skin Tags are harmless and don’t usually cause pain or discomfort, they can often catch or clothing or jewellery and may also cause confidence and self esteem issues.

At Aesthetics of Liverpool we offer Short Wave Diathermy Treatment to effectively remove Skin Tags.


Results vary dependent on client, whilst some clients will have a Mole removed in one session others may require multiple treatments.

Short Wave Diathermy

Short Wave Diathermy treatment involves the use of a fine tip needle. When the needle is applied to the Cherry Angioma it will deliver radio energy to destroy the wart tissue and cauterise blood vessels to prevent excess bleeding. The procedure will leave behind a small wound which is then covered using a small plaster.

Why do Skin Tags occur?

Skin Tags tend to develop where skin rub against skin or clothing. They are therefore more common in overweight people as they commonly occur where the skin creases or folds. They can also be hereditary , pregnant women may be more likely to develop due to hormonal changes and people who suffer with Diabetes are also more prone to them.

What does a Skin Tag look like?

Skin Tags vary in appearance but can have the following characteristics:

  • Small
  • Flesh Coloured
  • Brown Coloured
  • Hang off the skin
  • Look similar to Warts.

Does the treatment hurt?

Some clients experience a mild discomfort during treatment, those with sensitive skin may benefit from the use of an anaesthetic cream to numb the area and limit discomfort.

What happens after treatment?

The procedure is quick and straight forward and usually takes between 15-60 minutes depending on the number of Skin Tags being removed.
