Aesthetics Of Liverpool’s World-Class Depigmenting Methods For Face and Body

Skin pigmentation affects many people regardless of their skin type; studies show that over 90% of adults over the age of 50 battle with pigmentation. Pigmentation refers to the discolouration of the skin; although this condition may not necessarily be harmful, many wish to control the blemishes and pigment that have permeated their skin.

What is Pigmentation?

In most cases, pigmentation is typically the result of an overproduction of melanin. Melanin is a natural skin pigment that influences the colour of our skin, hair and eyes, depending on the type and amount of melanin one produces. The more melanin your cells make, the darker your skin will be. Likewise, when your cells become damaged or unhealthy, more melanin is produced to protect them. This overproduction results in your skin becoming discoloured, blotchy and uneven. As a result, your skin may appear very light in parts (hypopigmentation) and very dark in others (hyperpigmentation).

The main causes of pigmentation include Melasma, which occurs due to hormonal changes and can develop during pregnancy, and overexposure to the sun and UV rays, which is why you need to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. Melasma, however, is more common in Asian skin types as their darker skin tones contain more melanin-producing cells.

Fortunately, at Aesthetics of Liverpool, we have world-class treatments that will help you say farewell to any pigmentation you may have for good and hello to even, radiant skin. Our Specialist Doctors are experienced in treating all skin tones, regardless of where you are on the Fitzpatrick Scale

Please keep reading to find out more about our depigmenting methods in Liverpool. We will take you through our two most sensational treatments for pigmentation, the science behind them, why they are the most effective treatments, and who they are suitable for.

Cosmelan Skin Peel

Our new and exclusive Cosmelan peel is more than just a skin peel treatment! It is a unique, multi-ingredient treatment specifically designed to erase unwanted blemishes and dark spots. The combination of ingredients leaves the skin rejuvenated and glowing long after the peel has taken place.

In terms of the Cosmelan peel benefits, it can treat Melasma and reduce the appearance of pigmentation and hyperpigmentation-induced dark spots. The treatment provides outstanding, instant results and is gentle enough to suit all skin types. The primary function of the Cosmelan peel is to decrease melanin production by destroying the enzyme Tyrosinase, which is needed to trigger said production. Full of Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Arbutine, and Titanium Dioxide, the peel can lift dull skin, combat dry areas, prevent acne breakouts and blemishes, and give your skin a renewed, radiant finish.

The Cosmelan Peel is a two-step process. The first part involves applying the first skin peel to your face and leaving it to soak into the skin for 6-12 hours (this may vary depending on your skin type). The application should take under an hour to complete as this thick peel layer is applied. Discomfort will be minimal; some experience a slight tingling sensation, but this is entirely normal.

The next step of the Cosmelan peel will take place at home, and the expert carrying out your treatment will break down the process step-by-step. When 6-12 hours have passed, you will need to remove the peel via a gentle and neutral cleanser that we will provide, followed by a skincare routine (again, products will all be provided) to ensure that the skin is hydrated and moisturised. The Cosmelan Peel 2 contains Titanium Dioxide, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, and Ascorbic Acid to preserve the result of the initial peel. This needs to be applied twice on a daily basis, and the peeling should occur within 2-3 days, revealing the glowing, rejuvenated skin underneath.

Within approximately a week, you should notice significant changes in your skin. Your complexion will be brighter, and your skin’s texture will become smooth, with minimal traces of your original pigmentation blemishes. These results will continue to improve for up to 6 weeks. What makes this treatment one of the best in the world is its simplicity and effectiveness. A Cosmelan Peel is a painless and immediate way to achieve immaculate results, whatever your skin tone.

Dermamelan Skin Peel

Dermamelan Skin Peel is a mask treatment that utilises organic acids to improve the appearance of blemishes and pigmentation issues caused by a lack of melanin. Similar to the Cosmelan peel, Dermamelan is a treatment that also involves a two-step process, taking place in the clinic and the home. The Dermamelan Peel can help to treat Chloasma/Melasma aid in repairing sun damage and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. What sets it apart from our Cosmelan treatment is its added Titanium Dioxide, a mineral that shields the skin from UVA and UVB radiation. Titanium Dioxide is an excellent ingredient for those with sensitive skin, making this treatment suitable for people of all skin types.

For the treatment itself, the first phase will involve you attending a thorough consultation with one of our highly qualified doctors. They will examine your skin condition and answer any questions you may wish to ask. Once you have confirmation from a doctor that you are suitable for this treatment, we will provide you with a set amount of products to use at home and give you a detailed explanation of how to use them. Again, it’s crucial that you use the skincare regimen provided and that you do not mix these treatments with other products. You will then be required to visit the clinic for the application of the peel, which will be left on for around 6 hours. This process is painless, although you may experience a tingling sensation, which again is normal. Once you arrive home, you will need to remove the peel. After your first round, you will need several sessions over this period for maximum results: one month, three months, six months, nine months and 12 months after the initial treatment took place. Over these 12 months, we will ensure that you have the right skincare regimen to maintain optimum skin.

In terms of side effects, up to a week after the treatment, your skin may feel tight. Some clients also notice some redness. We would recommend booking some time off of work to allow your skin to heal. You will see outstanding results within the first week, and these improvements will increase to 80% in the first month. After this time, you will discover your pigmentation will reduce until it is almost all gone! Many clients have found the results so impressive they didn’t need another; however, this will depend on your desired outcome. A month after your Dermamelan Peel is when you can evaluate whether you wish to undergo a second peel. Upon completion, you will be left with plump, glowing skin that is oil and pore-free. Our Dermamelan Pore is a revolutionary treatment that is able to restore balance to your complexion.
