Dark Circle Treatment At Aesthetics Of Liverpool
We’ve all been guilty of staying up too late; a casual drink soon becomes a few too many, or just one episode that soon becomes three or four! A late-night is easily done; however, the majority of us will pay the price with dark circles under our eyes the next morning. But, did you know there are several causes for panda eyes, so it may not be as simple as getting a good night’s sleep.
Here at Aesthetics of Liverpool, we understand how frustrating it can be to live with dark circles. And, for those who suffer from other causes, it’s time to free yourself of tired eyes. Fortunately, we offer two renowned treatments that offer a solution, helping to eliminate dark circles. Please keep reading to discover more about our treatment options for dark circles.
What are Dark Circles?
Dark circles are when the skin beneath your eyes appear significantly darker than your natural complexion. However, these dark semi-circles are not to be confused with bruising. Unlike bruises or inflammation, the skin has not undergone any trauma, and there is no infection causing the discolouration.
In most instances, dark circles are the body’s way of telling you it is below par, and the most common factor is a lack of sleep. When we feel tired, the rings underneath our eyes are often a telltale sign of our exhaustion. Staying up too late or having a disturbed night’s sleep is enough to disrupt our sleep pattern, consequently leaving us jaded and sporting some panda eyes.
Dark circles can affect everyone from time to time; however, for some people, they can be challenging to reverse. With our hectic, on-the-go lifestyles, more people get by on less sleep. It has been estimated that 16 million UK adults are suffering from sleepless nights, so it is no wonder that we are battling stubborn dark circles.
Most of us head to the shops with a mission to purchase all the creams and serums available, but, unfortunately, these come to no avail. Stubborn dark circles simply need more assistance than an over-the-counter cream can provide; rather than masking the problem, you need a solution that will address the cause.
The Science of Dark Circles
When we are tired, the blood circulation around our eyes tends to slow down. In doing so, blood is allowed to pool in the area – the capillaries under the skin stretch and leak, leading to puffy, dark skin beneath the eyes. Stress can also have a similar effect on blood circulation.
However, this is not the only reason some people are unable to shift persistent eye bags and dark circles. Sadly, for some of us, it’s entirely down to genetics. For example, if you genetically have pale, thin skin, you’re more likely to be prone to dark circles and bags.
The next is the process of ageing. As we grow older, the amount of collagen and elastin in our skin decreases. These proteins provide our skin with its firm, taut appearance; however, with reduced levels, our skin weakens. As a result, dark circles are more visible through the epidermis with less elasticity, giving a tired appearance.
There are also some environmental factors to be considered that may also be causing your dark circles:
- Too much sun causes skin damage and makes dark circles more prominent.
- Too much salty food! High levels of salt can cause your body to retain more water, causing the area under your eyes to get darker.
- Rubbing your under eyes excessively can cause capillaries to be damaged and leak more.
So, what can you do to treat dark circles?
Now don’t feel as though you’ve got to avoid the sun and give up your favourite salty snacks as a means of beating dark circles. Of course, we will always recommend wearing suitable sun protection and maintaining a healthy diet. But, sometimes, the answer goes beyond dietary and lifestyle changes to solve the root of the problem. That is why, at Aesthetics of Liverpool, we offer dark circle treatments to help those with even the darkest of eyes look younger and revitalised. And all of this is achievable by our globally-renowned Mesoestetic Global Eyecon and Tear Trough Filler.
This innovative treatment is highly effective at treating a range of problems occurring around the eye area, such as:
- Dark circles
- Expression lines
- Drooping eyelids
- Under-eye bags
Its ability to target such a range of complaints makes it an all-rounder and go-to treatment for achieving younger, fresher looking eyes. By removing your dark circles, you will revitalise your whole appearance.
How does the procedure work?
Mesoestetic Global Eyecon is a six-stage treatment delivered over the course of three sessions. The treatment plan consists of alternating three periocular peel sessions and three trans-epidermal sessions. Don’t worry; we’ll break it down for you to know exactly what to expect.
Part 1: The Periocular Peel
The periocular peel involves applying the unique Global Eyecon Periocular Peeling Solution to the affected area. This peel is specially designed to treat the appearance of ageing and dark circles as it uses a combination of potent anti-ageing, anti-fatigue and depigmentation ingredients.
The skin around the eyes is extremely delicate and needs to be treated with the utmost care. Therefore, the solution used has been specifically designed to be used on this region of skin. It is imperative you consult with a Specialist Dermatologist before going ahead with this treatment. The skin is ten times thinner around the eyes than the rest of the face, and beneath the dermis, the lymphatic drainage is complicated by many vessels and capillaries. Before going ahead with this treatment with us, our qualified doctors will carry out a consultation to ensure you understand every step of this treatment.
Part 2: The Crystal Fiber Mask
Once you have finished the course of periocular peel, we will apply a soothing hydrogel mask. This soothing mask contains hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and cucumber extract. The mask revitalises and refreshes the under-eye skin by moisturising and decongesting the under-eye area, which causes pigmentation to disappear.
For best results, we recommend leaving a week between each session to ensure that the skin fully recovers between each session.
The treatment is entirely pain-free and is non-surgical, meaning there is no downtime, and you can factor the sessions in on your lunch break! You will notice visible improvement from the first session and continuing results as you progress through the course.
Similarly to Mesoestetic Global Eyecon, Tear Trough Filler is also effective in reducing dark circles; however, it also helps to combat sunken eyes, eye bags, and tired eyes. A form of dermal filler treatment, the Tear Trough Filler enables a clinician to focus on the tear trough region located between your eyelid and cheek. The filler is used to plump up this area, increasing the skin’s volume and reducing the appearance of dark circles.
How does the procedure work?
At Aesthetics of Liverpool, our Tear Trough Filler treatment is carried out using Restylane 2 as this is the only FDA approved device. Safety is at the forefront of what we believe. Therefore, we would only recommend this treatment if you seek a professional clinic where a qualified specialist administers the filler.
As previously mentioned, the skin around the eyes is extremely sensitive and, this is the case for the tear trough region. Due to ageing and a reduction in collagen, the skin’s structural integrity is compromised, and the dermis becomes unable to support the epidermis above. As a result, the skin begins to sink inward with less strength, forming a crease – identified as a tear trough. The weaker the skin, the more exaggerated the tear trough, contributing to an older and sunken appearance.
Furthermore, as the skin’s integrity reduces, the skin becomes thinner. What this means is that dark circles are likely to become more prominent, especially as the skin’s elasticity declines. Together with a slower blood flow, blood pooling in the capillaries beneath our eyes and a sunken tear trough, our eyes result in looking tired and hollow.
However, Tear Trough Fillers can replace this volume with carefully administered, Hyaluronic Acid filler. This acid is naturally found in the body, particularly within the fluid in the eyes and joints. By strengthening the dermis surrounding your eyes and below your tear troughs, it is possible to recreate a plump and voluminous appearance.
If you are tired of battling against dark circles, then it’s time to consider your non-surgical options and combat your dark circles.
