Do Morpheus8 Treatments Reduce Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks are a completely natural response from the body, and almost everyone will battle with them throughout their lifetime. When the outer skin stretches and then shrinks quickly, we are left with stretch marks on the skin’s surface. Since we all will change size and shape throughout our lives, no one is exempt from stretch marks.
How do stretch marks form?
The scars form as the abrupt stretch and reduction cause the skin’s collagen and elastin to rupture, leaving a scar as the skin heals. Stretch marks can be initially a dark purple colour which eventually fades to a faint white scar. They are often found on the tummy, chest, thighs, bottom, hips and back. These occur either from weight loss or weight gain and typically are a sign of changing in size, making them a negative reminder on the body sometimes, as they could mean you’ve gained a bit of weight. Luckily, stretch marks are becoming much more accepted with movements such as ‘tiger stripes,’ teaching women to love themselves and their flaws. However, as much as wider acceptance is growing, you may still want to rid yourself of unsightly scars if they bother you.

What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is one of our newest and most popular skin improvement treatments. It has multiple powers and can help solve a vast range of concerns. Morpheus8 is highly effective for reducing and addressing those stubborn stretch marks as it has dual components designed to tackle skin problems from the inside out. Morpheus8 uses micro-needling combined with the powers of radiofrequency technology. The micro-needles penetrate 4mm beneath the skin surface to create micro-injuries; these micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing response, producing collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are key proteins that improve the appearance of skin and minimise stretch marks.
Then, once the micro-needles have penetrated the skin, the radiofrequency technology emits a deep heat that targets the dermis (deeper layers of skin); this reorganises the tissue structure beneath and eliminates the appearance of stretch marks! This restructuring of the skin’s tissue combined with the collagen and elastin response creates newer, smoother skin overall. This anti-ageing process creates new skin, breaks up the old scar tissue, and is highly effective in reducing the appearance of stretch marks.
The micro-needles create micro-injuries on targeted skin areas to stimulate collagen production to reduce the appearance of flaws on the skin. Furthermore, once the micro-needles penetrate the skin, the radiofrequency technology emits heat that penetrates deep layers of the skin, resulting in a tightening of the fat under the skin and underlying skin. The heat energy creates the restructuring of deep dermal layers to reduce sagging skin, leading to smoother skin and contours in desired areas.
The combination of micro-needling and radiofrequency therefore works on two levels. First, the micro-needles stimulate new collagen production on the skin’s surface. Then, the radio frequency’s thermal energy reorganises tissue and breaks up the scar tissue and fibrous tissue, improving stretch marks by building a new anti-ageing process that reduces the appearance of scars in the treated area.
If you’re worried about needles, you’ll be happy to know that a numbing cream is applied at the start of the procedure. This ensures the treatment is comfortable and pain-free. Once the numbing cream has started to work, a handpiece is used to perform the treatment; your practitioner will use a foot pedal to control the needles at a programmed depth and energy to ensure the process remains pain-free! Then the radio frequency is issued to start the dual effect of the treatment.
The depth of the needles can be adjusted depending on where you want to eliminate stretch marks. For example, if you were looking to target stretch marks, the needles would be inserted into the dermis (deeper layer of skin). For resurfacing, however, the needles would be inserted into the epidermis (outer layer). There are now new 7mm needles that are perfectly designed for targeting areas such as the thighs and abdomen, which are some of the main areas affected by stretch marks. On average, this procedure only lasts around half an hour. The number of treatments you require will be assessed within your consultation with one of our doctors. You could be stretch mark free in no time at all, becoming a happier you! Morpheus8 is a great solution for stretch marks due to its dual treatments targeting both the dermis and epidermis, creating long-lasting results.
