Enlarged Pores: The Causes and How to Treat Them

Table of Contents

Enlarged pores often occur due to overactive sebaceous gland activity or for those with oily skin and acne. What happens is the pores become clogged with sebum; stretching their walls, making them more visible. From feeling tired, ageing, sun exposure and an imbalance in the skin to incorrect product use, health issues and medication can also contribute to visibly enlarged pores.

Skin types can influence the size of a person’s pores, too; making them more or less visible. If you are concerned about the size of your pores, then fear not because here at Aesthetics of Liverpool, we provide our clients with a non-invasive treatment to conquer visible pores. Enlarged pores are very common, and it is no surprise when our face has thousands of them; in fact, the average adult has 5 million pores, with approximately 20,000 on the face alone.

If you’re looking for a reliable solution that can bring your skin back to the smooth side, continue reading this blog.

4 Step Pore Patrol Process for Enlarged Pores

Our 4 step pore patrol process for enlarged pores is an innovative treatment plan that has been created to ensure that each client is given exceptional results. By carrying out these four steps, we are able to reduce the visibility of your pores, and leave your skin with a smooth and glowing aesthetic. As every clients’ skin’s condition differs, we ensure to design a treatment based on each individuals skin type and severity of enlarged pores.

Whether you require the entire four steps or just a couple, we will ensure that your skin is given the best chance at feeling smooth again. See each step in more detail below.

Steps 1 and 2

First things first, we deep clean your skin using a salicylic acid mask that softens the oily plugs in the pores and gets rid of any nastiness that is at on your skin. The residue is then vacuumed out with a medical microdermabrasion device which is extremely gentle on the skin; making this an ideal treatment for even sensitive skin types. This is an essential step for preparing the face for the rest of the process.

Step 3

The next step requires the new production of collagen. We do this by using an advanced radiofrequency device that can treat the entire face. The frequency heats the lower layers of the skin to 42 degrees which then kick-starts the production of collagen. Collagen, the component of the skin than keeps it looking youthful, plump and vibrant will also help improve the appearance and texture of the skin, making your skin instantly smoother after just one session. This treatment is perfectly tolerable and highly effective in our process.

Step 4

The next step is the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) machine which stimulates the production of collagen even more so by delivering light energy to the dermis, without causing damage to the top layer of the skin. Following this, a hydrating mask is applied and then you will spend 20 minutes under a red light to complete this step. The mask and light soothe the skin; they are anti-inflammatory and build up the collagen, too. By this point, your skin will look glowy and a lot smoother.

Micro-Botox for Enlarged Pores

You can keep those pores even further at bay with Micro-Botox; a new treatment that again, smoothens the skin and shrinks pores. The botox is injected into the more superficial layers of the skin as well as the T-zone, cheeks and chin. The Micro-Botox doesn’t affect the muscle-nerve communication to the deep lines on the face like traditional Botox treatments; instead, it tightens the pores to make the skin look and feel smoother.
