You Can Get Tear Trough Treatment At Aesthetics of Liverpool

The eyes are central to human attraction. When talking to someone, the eyes are usually the first point of contact. And whilst listening to each other’s words, we also focus on what their eyes are saying. With the eyes expressing so much of our character and emotions, it is understandable why we all want to maintain a youthful appearance here.

Unfortunately, the skin surrounding our eyes is extremely delicate and sensitive. This means that as we age, this region is extremely susceptible to signs of ageing: developing fine lines, eye bags and dark circles. So to keep the appearance of fresh, youthful eyes, we all could do with a little helping hand.

For years, surgery has been the only option to diminish under-eye bags and dark circles effectively. However, this route has always been risky; going under the knife not only comes hand-in-hand with a long, painful recovery and list of possible complications, but it also comes with a hefty price tag. Fortunately, now, there is another option.

Here at Aesthetics of Liverpool, we make it our job to keep up to date with the latest, most innovative non-surgical procedures. So when it comes to removing under-eye bags, fine lines and dark circles, we are pleased to offer our non-surgical Tear Trough Treatment. Keep reading to find out more.

What is a Tear Trough?

A tear trough is a deep crease that runs between the lower eye and the cheek. This crease can cause the eyes to have a shadow or deep-set appearance, often making people appear older or more tired. For some people, they inherit their tear trough within their DNA. Whilst others find that their tear trough deepens with age.

However, it is possible for tear troughs to develop from lack of sleep, hyperpigmentation, or the prolapse of fat surrounding the lower eye area.

Tear Troughs and Ageing

Our skin is made up of different forms of protein, with collagen making up a third of all our bodies’ protein. Endogenous collagen is a natural protein found in all parts of our bodies, from our bones and muscles to our tendons and skin. It is this form of collagen which provides our skin with its strength, elasticity and structure, as well as other types of connective tissue.

However, as we get older, our bodies gradually produce less and less collagen. By the time we’re around 70 years old, our skin has reduced in thickness by approximately 80%. Around the eyes, this decline in collagen becomes prominent. As the skin’s integrity reduces, dark circles show through and under our eyes starts to sag.

For tear troughs, as the skin’s structural strength declines, it struggles to support the tissue below. Where a crease has already formed, the appearance can be exaggerated. Therefore, tear troughs can increase, making the eyes appear hollow and exhausted.

How can Aesthetic of Liverpool’s Tear Trough Treatment Help?

Tear Trough Treatment involves injecting dermal filler directly into the affected area. The filler plumps out the area, smoothing the surface of the skin around the cheek and lower eyelid crease. The dermal filler is composed of a naturally occurring chemical found in the body, hyaluronic acid. This acid is able to keep the skin hydrated and plump, creating structure and contours on the face.

Dermal filler can be used for multiple areas of the body, including the eyes, lips and cheeks and is an incredibly popular procedure used by people globally. However, when the dermal filler is used to treat tear troughs, it can also positively affect other conditions surrounding the eye area. These include sunken areas, dark circles, under-eye bags, and rejuvenated a fatigued appearance.

The Tear Trough Procedure

Before you undergo any procedure here at Aesthetics of Liverpool, we will ensure to provide you with a consultation prior to your appointment. The consultation is the perfect time to ask any questions and eliminate any worries you may have. It is also when your practitioner will assess your skin and map out your procedure. In doing so, everyone knows exactly what to expect before undergoing the treatment.

The procedure only lasts around 20-30 minutes, meaning you can schedule it for your lunch break! Then, one of our practitioners will perform a series of injections into the affected area, and you will be able to notice an instant filling and improvement to the area. Don’t worry; the procedure is painless as we will give you a local anaesthetic to numb the area.

Our Tear Trough Treatment is an excellent alternative to a surgical procedure; the recovery time for this procedure is minimal, and you’ll only notice some redness and tenderness for a couple of days.

It is worth noting that there is a strict aftercare procedure to follow with tear trough filler treatments. These rules are in place to enable you to gain the best results from your treatment and increase the long-lasting effect of your results.
